what kind of kit would you need to film something like this? and any idea of cost? the results can be very effective:

I would think a £100 dogcam or equivalent mounted low down at the front of the car and a shielded mike would do the trick.
Just watched it again. Great stuff - it's the sound that does it for me, all the double-declutching etc. Listen through the tunnel at 3.40! ISTR it's a Ferrari, certainly sounds like a flat plane V8. Some of the risks he takes are incredible, especially going flat through unsighted red lit junctions
and the tight blind bends later in the film. Could have gone so wrong so many times, no way you could make that film now...

It's dubbed, they used the director's Mercedes SEL for it. IIRC they had spotters at a couple of junctions. The soundtrack makes it seem quicker than it is. There's plenty around the internet about how quick it actually is. Just watched it again. Low-mounted cameras always increase the sense of speed. However, I doubt you'd be able to recreate this using an HDPro -- whatever they're using seems to have a serious amount of stabilization (either that or the roads in Paris are like a billiard table). You could probably achieve quite a bit of it with professional editing software, I guess.

Just some scaf. The Mercedes they used would have had some seriously cushy suspension though.
