I was just seeking opinion or clarification of something that was quoted to me a few years ago.The quote was that the Jeep Cherokee is the greenest car from manufacture to recycling (the whole lifecycle of the vehicle). The basis of this is that it contains very little in the way of plastics and that this gives the manufacturing process a low environmental impact and that when it reaches the end of its life most of the car is recycled and no nasty fuel cells or anything to dispose of.
Although it is not the most economical car in use the recyclability of it offsets this.So fact or myth? has anyone else heard this?

I suspect that depends on what you mean - people have a tendency to define "green" to mean whatever the hell they like in order to prove their point.

they made ungodly ammounts of them in the states, and the vast majority do well over 300k miles at which point the offroaders get them and give them another 200k of hell before destroying them on the rubicon... or something like that lol

i remember the green award, it included lots of things like how parts were made and transported to the factorys, how vehicles were moved around to dealerships around the world, and disposed of at the end

Yes it would be interesting to see an "official" number on this with a list of assumptions and calculations.

yes and the assumptions that were made on that particular 'survey' were a bit, erm, weird - lifetime of a Prius set at 100,000 miles and that of a Jeep much, much higher etc.
