An amazing age, esp for a cavi. he looks so cute
I know - we thought he was a gonna over three years ago, when we lived in Italy, he had a massive stroke and one side of his face dropped. We didn't take him to the vets, as he was so old (for a KC), they probably would have recommended that he was put to sleep.
Glad we didn't, as he recovered very well, but has had another three minor strokes/fits since - but everytime he seems to bounce back! he can still walk (to a fashion...) and still asks to go outside to do his business. He has his fur cut every couple of months, where he is then covered in 'Doggy-Jupe', which the other 5 sausage dogs seem to love, as they don't leave him alone.
The only vaccinations he has had throughout his life are the puppy injections and the rabies vaccination to get him to and from Italy.
Brilliant. Can I suggest part of the reason for your ongoing fortune is the existence of other younger dogs.
Our collie turns 17 in a few weeks having survived one fit late last spring (we were offered the option by the vet). Needs a few pills a day to help with function of brain and heart but we feel its the interaction with the setters that is crucial.
In fact, over Xmas she has appeared several years younger - all of us at home - visitors. Psychology at work.

I think you're right. Yogi has always had other dogs around him. Just before we moved to Italy in 2007, our 4 year old sausage dog died (we think from someone putting rat poison in our garden), and that was utterly devastating (still miss him), as he was such a character and loved Yogi and the two cats. We then decided to get another, a male long haired sausage dog, and we bought a short haired when we were in Italy. Soon after, we had a lot of sausage dogs! Our collie turns 17 in a few weeks having survived one fit late last spring (we were offered the option by the vet). We sold two, but kept the rest, and Yogi the King Charles hardly ever has a dull moment!
