Poorly fitting gaskets?
Discussion
Hi all and a happy New Year to you all!
I have beed refurbing the rocker covers on the 450 and refitted the offside one this afternoon. The car did have cork gaskets so i've replaced them with rubber ones however..............
On fitting the offside rocker cover with a new rubber gasket it seems to fit rather poory. It has a lip/recess in it which clearly is supposed to fit around the edge of the rocker cover but i'm bu&&ered if i can get it to fit like that. I have the rocker cover on and everything is tightened down ok but it just seems a bit of a rough fit.
Any thoughts chaps?

Seem to recall that the last ones I got had lips to keep them in place on the cylinder head while you fitted the cover. Are you trying to fit them upside down?

Hmm, could be, if it lines up that way. Sounds like they may have shrunk when removed from the mould. Usual quality control from you-know-where
Try gluing them in place on the covers, section at a time? Obviously would need a good degrease first...
