Hi,
Looking through the m3cutters forum, it mentions a remap for m3 giving 15-20 bhp, has anyone actually derestricted their m3 and had this remap done, what sort of bhp would be reached then?
Or just derestricted on it's own.
Thanks
Dave
Simple map can delig the speed restriction, although I'm not sure where you plan to try to get above 170mph on the speedoLooking through the m3cutters forum, it mentions a remap for m3 giving 15-20 bhp, has anyone actually derestricted their m3 and had this remap done, what sort of bhp would be reached then?

As for BhP gain, just with a map, I dont think 5bhp gain is likely and probably you'll loose BHp if you go to the wrong mapper

Buzzmeister,Consider me correctly informed, Nuff said.
Thanks, that was extremely helpful

with an exhaust, remap and air filter you might get 10hp.

I can't see anything more than that to be honest .... Each of those 10bhp will come at quite a price though, and I'd struggle to see how the cost could be justified purely from a performance point of view.
Supercharging? That that's a conversation I'd be interested in listening to!!

That article is well out of date. Independant dyno graphs showing gains from remapping on E46 M3's.

I had my E46 M3 remapped and derestricted last May by Evolve as recommended on M3Cutters.
Max HP gains weren't huge, 339 to 346, but the car felt more eager to rev right round to 8k. The guy at Evolve said max bhp is highly dependent on air pressure at the time and showed me that before and after rolling road sessions were set with the same pressure. Tweaking this could give much larger (false) gains to the unwitting customer.
In a couple of attempts on the way to Le Mans, the most we managed was 155 leptons but that was in fifth and traffic (a couple of cars in the distance) was the limit to vmax rather than any limiter.
I've no doubt an indicated 170 and more would be possible given the right conditions.
Has it been worth the money? For me, with hindsight not really, the change was too subtle for the cost IMHO.
