Ice night, night breakers, cool blue....

Just some of the bulbs available at Halfrauds, eBay etc. Are they any better? They are certainly a lot more expensive some up to £30-40! But is there any real noticeable difference? Need to change a few and any input welcome, I don't mind spending a little bit more, but I don't think I could bring myself to spend £30 on one bulb. I need H4 type.
Thanks.

I have just bought and fitted a pair of Philips H4 Blue Vision '100%' bulbs to a Land Rover Discovery 1. The improvement is quite significant. Cost was £20.36 including VAT and postage; all done through Amazon.
Previously fitted similar Philips bulbs to a P106 with the same level of improvement.

Please don't spend that much on a bulb. I got a pair of 'xenon' look 100w H4 bulbs with the really dark blue tint off eBay. They are quite a lot better than the standard candles my car had an I only paid £6 for the pair including postage. they even came with 2 free LED side light bulbs.

How much of the improvement that people find is simply due to replacing tired old bulbs with new? Bulbs deteriorate with age so even standard replacements ought to show an improvement over five year old bulbs.

Which are illegal on the road, dazzle oncoming motorists and may overload your existing wiring due to the increase in current draw.

So, why should be buy these bulbs that (dont really) look like xenon?

There's always one rolleyes there is no way they dazzle drivers whether they are illegal or not. They passed the MOT with them in an I never said anyone should buy them.

Theres always one what, exactly?.....person that points out what your doing is illegal, well sorry to spoil your fun but responsible peolple might care, also next time you get your car MOT'd why dont you inform your tester that you have 100w bulbs and ask his opinion.
I hope for your sake you arent involved in a major incident, if investigated by the police or VOSA they could be seen as a contributory factor.

Still I'm sure you know what your doing.

I have a set of 1st generation Nightbreakers in one of mine, much better than standard.

However, a friend recently got some of the new Ring 120% bulbs, they are brilliant. Cheap too

Osram Nightbreakers, /thread. Not too expensive, and put out a bright white light, but not the awful glaring fuzzy white you get from crap HID type bulbs.

Recently fitted a set of Philips X-Treme Vision H7 bulbs and I'm very impressed.

An improvement in overall lighting effectiveness, especially at the periphery, and a whiter (not 'chav blue' though) hue than the somewhat yellow-ish standard bulbs.

The bulbs they replaced were about a year and a half old so it's not just a case of the improvement being down to going from really faded old bulbs to new ones.
