Little video of the Cayman at Oulton Park:

http://youtu.be/fV_ZHB6jRok?hd=1

Warning: graphic Porsche Cayman porn...

My first track-day in the Cayman and first time to Oulton Park, so a little apprehensive. It was also damp for most of the day, although this enforced some right foot discipline and learning the lines. The car behaved great, very very predictable as long as I was smooth with the power and steering. Also plenty of fast cars to follow and learn the lines. Not so impressed with the tyres (Michelin Pilot Sports) but I guess expected for the conditions.

The track day was organised by a Evolution (Lancer) forum, some seriously sorted track cars around. Great bunch of folks and happy to chat about their cars when I wondered down the pitlane. Also a few Civic cup race cars which sounded great.

Re: music

Heheh, yes, sorry. ;-)

Re: Oulton

I really want to go back in the dry. The track would be so much more fun, although it was pretty good anyway. The point you made about Druids is 100% spot on, especially the slight crest at the exit... Eeeekk.

My first go there is 10th March with EasyTrack. Do they always use the whole circuit? And do they race the whole circuit too?

I think I will be there too on the 10th of March shaking down my new (to me) TVR Tuscan Challenge car..

The thing is in bits though at the moment so will book up nearer the time when I know, 100%, it will be finished.

Easy Track and most TDO's usually use the international circuit (full) but it depends on the race series which track they use. Our race series uses the international normally.

In my experience most of the car races are on the full international circuit with the BTCC weekend being the notable exception. All trackdays I've done there have been the full international too.

Car looks great, bet it will be awesome when its finished. I wish I had the skills to build my own track/race car! I can barely change a wheel.

Re: International Circuit

Agree. From what I heard and read, the track days do tend to be the full (International Circuit).

LOL...I was like that when I bought my first track / race car 5 years ago. You tend to learn how to fix things quickly though when you can't afford to pay others to do itsmile

Although, to be fair, this car is being prepared by the experts. Track v Road of Clitheroe are doing general mechanical work and tidying, J.G. Racing of Blackpool is doing the set up and chassis work, J.E. Developments (John Eales) is doing the engine, Surface and Design of Blackpool is doing the bodywork and painting and Grantura Engineering of Poulton is sorting the gearbox. I've done the brakes, fire extinguisher, battery, fuel system and a few other bits but that is all I want to get involved in at this stage.

The car hasn't turned a wheel for 10 years so needs a lot of recommissioning! Weighing in at only 860kg with, I hope, between 380 and 400bhp at the fly it certainly will be a beast of a thing biggrin

Going from a 250bhp V6, 30 year old TVR Tasmin to this will certainly be a challenging experience but I'm really looking forward to it.... Just hope I don't bend it first time out wink
