Hello....and What Next Car?
Discussion
Good afternoon all. Long time reader, first time poster here.
I currently have a 55' plate Mondeo ST TDCi which I use as my daily dog for a 100 mile commute between Bristol and Cardiff. I have loved owning it but it is just coming up on 120k miles and is starting to cost a bit, plus I fancy a change.
Things I like about the Mondeo:
- Very good fuel economy. I don't watch how I drive at all and it returns between 40-45mpg average.
- Plenty of room. I'm 6ft 5 and need a big car, plus we will probably have kids on the way within the next year or so so will need the same amount of room at least.
- Quite pokey. Even though it's a diesel the Mondeo is quite quick of the mark for a car of it's size, and returns good MPG with a 6 speed box.
There isn't really anything I don't like about it, apart from the fact it's a Fraud!
So, for my next car I will have about £8k - £10k to spend. I need something which ticks the same boxes as the Mondeo; it has been perfectly reliable and the only things which have gone wrong were all done under the initial warranty.
My company mileage gets paid for on the assumption that the car does 40MPG. I also get a bonus payment if I drive a car which has co2 emissions lower than 150, although this is not a criteria I have to fulfil.
The only car I have really thought about is a Passat CC - I will probably buy my next car at auction (BCA) as my father used to buy and sell cars for a living and there are plenty of ex-fleet cars going through them which seem too good to miss.
I know this isn't the most PH'er request for help ever, but over to you guys!

Just to clarify, how can it be costing quite a bit yet all problems you've had were fixed under warranty?
I would be tempted to stay with it, or if you are after a new car then look at a direct replacement, i.e diesel mondeo (they dropped the ST badge on the recent on mark, but I think the Titanium X is the equivalent).
