XBox standby setting?

Hi all,

for some reason, since the new dashboard update my XBox doesnt shut down when I select "shut down console" from the controller or press the main power button - it justs goes into standby

I've looked in settings but cant seem to find a setting to change this, any ideas?

It may be in standby if you've got it set to download stuff "in the background". Or indeed if you've got a wired "play n charge" kit plugged in which is charging the battery in the controller.

If you're using the new cloud storage facility it requires that background downloads be on too.
