Folks, I need a run flat tyre for my e60 BMW. The well known tyre places want circa £240 for fitting. Can anyone recommend a better place?

Try Camskill.co.uk and Blackcircles.co.uk. Also, you may be surprised by the prices that smaller independents can offer, though this approach is very much hit or miss in my experience.

Excuse the thread hijack, it didn't seem worth starting a new thread.

My lease company insist on replacement tyres from Kwik-Fit, who can't offer all-season tyres. So do any of you have experience of the following runflats on a 520d? My priority is grip/braking in cold & wet conditions:

  • Dunlop SP Sport 01 (currently on the car) *BMW
  • Pirelli Cinturato P7
  • Goodyear Eagle NCT5 *BMW
  • Michelin Primacy HP
If I buy a jack & space-saver spare I might also be allowed non-runflats:

  • Uniroyal Rainsport 2
  • Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3
  • Goodyear Efficient Grip
  • Pirelli P zero Rosso
  • Pirelli P7
  • Continental Sport Contact 3
  • Michelin Primacy HP *BMW
I'm not sure if it matters, but on Kwik-Fit's site, only those I've marked *BMW are "Homologated for fitment to certain BMW cars."

Ditching run-flats will transform the ride and handling of your BMW. If your lease allows it, do it.

I generally go for Falken FK452 on my 320d and Z4, made by Dunlop (and in Japan) I believe. A quick look at Camskill recently and the rears were on offer at about £110 for a rear (18's & 255 wide). Excellent tyre and used by many on Mercs, BMWs etc.

If you can't go for run-flats, try Camskill or Event Tyres anyway. They are both very competitive and the service is excellent.

Thanks. Unfortunately I have to go to Kwik-Fit, so I'm limited to the tyres listed below.

Hmm... If you can't get Falken I'd say that the Uniroyal Rainsport 2 is a good bet. They're a very good tyre, especially in the wet (obviously) and they won't break the bank too much. I think they look quite nice too.

Continentals, Pirelli's and the like often cost £££'s and are no better.

Don't forget to haggle!
