As a former NYJO trombonist, I just wondered if there are any fellow brass players on PistonHeads?

Use to play the Cornet to a pretty good standard, years since I've played though.

Been 10 years since I played too - Shame really as I was pretty good but having moved out of my parents house I never had to time (or the required distance from neighbours)to practice.

Taken the trombone everywhere with me from house-to-house since then and am now toying with the idea of selling it.

The wife thinks I should keep it "because its something special" but to me it's £1200 I could spend on something else laugh

I'm a pretty decent standard Trumpet player. I to 'put it down' for a couple of years but over the last year I have been playing again regularly and have realised what I loved in playing the trumpet.

Don't sell your bone. I was thinking about selling my trumpet but then I realised I've had it for 15 years and its travelled the world with me.

I recently had my trumpet completely overhauled and now I'm in love again.

For 2012 pick it back up. :-)

Mine was a present from my Nana so will NEVER be sold.
It's currently residing at my parents and my mum keeps asking me to teach her!

I have been asked to join a local band, would be the only brass player, rock music but without major practice I fear i'd let people down.
Also, I dont think I have the confidence to go solo these days.

Both my children play brass (cornet and tenor horn), I took them to see NYBB last year with Bramwell Tovey, he was really interesting to listen to - A good day out ...

I played trumpet and cornet to a high standard. Still got my trumpet and take it out occasionally. Nowhere near the standard I was but can still play the thing and read the music..

I used to play the tuba. Was pretty good but gave up after not getting into the music college I wanted to go to (guildhall) got into all the others though..... Stupidity of youth. Took up rugby instead, may buy another one when the body gives up
