Has anyone had colonic irrigation treatment?

Pretty much as the title asks really! I have been told this is a worthwhile treatment, especially after all the over indulgence over the festive season. I've been feeling really bound up recently and was told this would help along with plenty of fibre. Anyone?

I would put money on the fact that the person who told you was not a medical professional. I was discussing with a surgeon the benefits of this kind of treatment and she had the sort of disdain for people who have colonics that we do for MLMs... simply put, colonic irrigation can result in death and are normally carried out by people who should not be inserting objects inside others for money.

Pretty much what Hoofy said, Everything will get broken down eventually and your not only going to be flushing the bad bits out but all the good bacteria etc aswell. Your gut is finely balanced and your just going to irritate it and allow overpopulation of bad bacteria. If a medical professional send you for one is probably a different story though.

Quite why you want someone sticking a hosepipe up your bum is beyond me anyway

In order to administer beauty treatments including hydrogen peroxide to the eye lashes and other such chemicals and messing about with skin/nails which can cause damage and infection if not done properly... I attended a couple of 4 hour courses...

Does that tell you everything you need to know about holistic treatments?

According to the handbook it's holistic therapies. Encompasses lots of different things and the longest course is 6 hours from start to certificate.

Ah. I thought holistic meant stuff like massage. I suspect they are just being clever marketing people.

I'd expect to be paid to do that course rather than pay.

The point I was making was that people can 'train' in such a short space of time with no regulation after initial training that it doesn't appear to be a good plan to let any old Tom Dick or Harry shove a hose pipe up yer bum.
