Have a Navara that's just coming up for renewal and really fancy a new 90 hardtop (commercial).
Should I seek medical attention?

Different category of vehicle really.
Navarra is for property-developing "builders" who don't really get their hands that dirty and can't lay bricks for toffee.
Defender is for tree surgeons with wet dogs.

Had a TD5 before, but looking at the new ones they seem a lot better interior wise. Still tight on the door/shoulder though LOL
Reckon it'd be a good time to get a "real one" before they replace it with a new softie version. Navara isn't bad off road
but is a PIA parking 'cause it's too bloody long!

Do the parts still get knicked? Could I park a new one at a train station for example and not have the bonnet and doors pinched?
That all depends which station it is.

Depends on what age of Navara you are talking about. Older shape ones are for tree surgeons with wet dogs that want something that starts in the morning smile

My old '51 plate Navara was an excellent tool and about 2/3 the price of same age D110 double cab and never let me down (honestly never) and I doubled it's mileage in 5 years. 15k a year averaging 30mpg.

Just 15k a year? Social and domestic only then? wink
Agreed a 110DC wouldn't be my weapon of choice in its category.
Against a compact 90 (and it does make a difference and have benefits) the Japs have little to offer.

Seat risers (or a wad of washers if you're cheap like me) under the rails is the answer. My driver's seat is up by an inch and it's perfect. Elbow even sit nicely on the bottom lip of the window.

Thanks for that! Have heard you can also get extended seat rails for a bit more legroom.

As a matter of interest I did a gas strut damper setup for the back door for a mates 110 It acts to hold the door open stopping slamming in the wind.
He did it after it got one of his dogs legs ... Do you reckon they'd sell to other owners?

Agree on the seat risers. MUDStuff do them, as do Exmoor Trim.

They make a big difference and make even more sense if you couple that mod with a smaller diameter steering wheel.

The gast strut for the rear door is a good idea.

Haven't heard of that before, although a similarly effective modification is to fit a Mantec spare wheel carrier to the back door and the extra friction that gives (or, at least, gives mine) holds the door open very nicely.

OP was asking about replacing a Navara, so I assume it would need reasonable load space as well as a comfortable cabin.

Seat risers and smaller steering wheels!? Just cos they didn't change the driver seat arrangement since the Series 2 wink

Thanks for the link.

My kit would be about £25 + P&P Includes the proper mounting brackets and a 50% damped gas spring (std units are only damped for about 10mm of their stroke)
Methinks I'll take some pic's and EBAY them

If I tell you, will you promise not to rob my doors? wink
Take the doors and roof and leave them at home.

How d'you mean the "proper" moutning brackets? A gas strut is too long for the normal door stay mounts so any brackets will be a new fit.

Done deal! Well chuffed

Pre Reg Defender 90 hard top with paint, tow bar, boost alloys, exterior pack,
cloth seats, cubby box, load liner and a comfort pack.

Only thing I want to sort is iPhone connectivity for hands free and some tunes wink

I guess the easiest way to achieve this is change the head unit? Anyone know a suitable unit or
have any other ideas?

Thanks

Well done! You'll not regret it.

Defenders get under your skin, and make you smile when you drive them.

Presumably, you've bought one of the new 2.2 models, with DPF?

I'm just about to fit the new Parrot head unit to my 2.4 90. Excellent head unit, with a highly compatible bluetooth connection, and excellent iPhone compatibility. I upgraded my speakers with 13cm Focal units, which are awesome! You might want to consider some sound proofing though! lol
