High usage credit card recommendations.

Does anyone here use a credit card a lot (£100k pa+) and have a card provider that gives good service?

Not interested in access to business lounges, concierge etc just a credit limit about half of turnover and customer service staff whose first language is English.

I use Amex for most of transactions and never have a problem (even putting £20k at a time on the card). The call centres are English based and good service when I need them. The only issue is that not everyone accepts them. I have a MasterCard with bank of Ireland and a visa to us if the place doesn't take Amex.

Not super high usage but I do most spending on a barclaycard platinum which is usually £4k a month

My HSBC card has a very high limit but it's an offshore account.

The snag with Amex is many businesses don't accept them because their commission rates are usually slightly higher than most other mainline card providers...

The Virgin Atlantic Black card is decent- they give you both an Amex and a Visa on one account straight away so when Amex is not accepted you can use the Visa- you earn flying miles at the same time and they seem to give decent service so far.

Spend approx £100k pa on my Capital One Mastercard without too many problems, get 1% cashback too which is nice

My BMI Card has just split the same as the Virgin one, so I get the two cards linked to the same account.

Another vote for Amex here.........BUT always carry a second card because of comments above.

another vote for amex, i have a BA credit and a gold with them and happy so far.

I put about £130k pa through my Amex without a problem, never had an issue with them refusing it. You do need to have a backup in case someone doesn't accept it, but that is less of a problem than some people make out.

Depends where you travel, in France & Belgium AMEX is a PITA! Also places like Eurotunnel Ashford car park etc.

I received both the visa and the Amex at the same time- just ordered 2 more for my wife


The black card version costs 140 per annum and the White card is free but with the White you only earn half the points.

I have Amex titanium and very rarely get turned down, can't remember the last time. Great service and points ! I think though you have to go platinum first, got my " black" many years ago and then had to go titanium to continue. It ain't cheap but worth it overall.

Yet another vote for Amex. I've had some gargantuan statements and they're the only credit card company cut out for it.
