Amazed I'm on this refuge for techo-fiends, but an important issue must be addressed.

David87, I'm guessing when you followed Harris on DR you happened to stumble upon an automotive version of Stan composed by my homie Notorious MWB, circa summer 2009...

While some may laud you work as 'exceptional' those of us on the street know what's up. Here's how it was done properly many, many months ago -

'My 2CV’s sounding old,
I should’ve used Castrol oil,
The morning rain mists up my windows,
And the radiator’s started to boil,
And even if I checked, I’m not au fait,
With mechanics or Snap-On tools,
It reminds me I’m not car mad,
Not car mad,

Dear MW, I wrote to you on DR’s forum,
I like Derek Bell, Piquet and ‘Juan Pablo’ Bovingdon,
I wrote 2 posts back in autumn, you must not have spotted them,
There probably was a problem with the page link or something,
Sometimes I title subjects too succinctly when I type them,
But anyways, what’s been up man, how’s Richard Porter?
I’ve heard he writes a column now; he’s graduated from a reporter,
And he’s a lot funnier than Steve Cropley,
I read your rhyme about Jeremy too, that’s was cocky,
I know someone who punched him in his face when they saw him,
He probably hears this everyday, but he drives a Sharan,
I even saw him on the underground and catching a tram,
We’ve had a gutful of his posts and his musings man,
I wish he’d stop, he’s so sad,
Anyways rap me back, nice and neat,
The only person in your clique, this is Pete.

Chorus

Dear MW, you still ain’t rhymed a post, I hope you get a chance,
I ain’t mad, it’s just messed up you haven’t mocked vans,
If you didn’t want to rap outside Silverstone you didn’t have to,
But you coulda included a few lines on Eau Rouge,
That’s my favourite corner; it’s nearly 90 years-old,
I watched on the sidelines for 4 hours, it was grand prix gold,
The cars zipped by man, the sensation was delightful,
I wish I could go back there man, for the 24hrs at nightfall,
I ain’t that mad Massa won, he was on a light fuel load,
Remember when he crashed in the Ardennes, he said he would come back,
See he’s just like Hamilton in a way; he doesn’t like his father at GPs either,
He always bores the girlfriend with the Ron Dennis-treatment,
I can relate to your posts on Renaults and Citroens,
So when I have a long day I load the forum and comment on,
See I’ve bought a Merc SL; it’s the torque that impressed,
I even got a polish to buff the tri-star crest,
Sometimes I even t-cut the bonnet to see how much it gleams,
It’s glorious like seeing Toivonen in a Lotus Sunbeam,
See David Vivian is like John Peel, and I respect Ayrton Senna,
I just wish Le Mans went on 24/7,
See I secretly like driving a Polo; it’s a real buzz,
Especially when you go to Yorkshire and the pass of Buttertubs,
You’ve got to rhyme again - DR’s forum depends on you,
Sincerely yours, Pete,
PS. Is there any FIA news?

Chorus

Dear Mr I’m-too-good-to-rap-on-Esprits-or-Elans,
I’ve just got a VIP package for the British Touring Cars at Brands,
It’s 6 months away, but I deserve it,
I hope Jason Plato’s there - his twin-tests with Tiff are perfect,
I might set the video cassette to record so I can re-watch it,
Tim Harvey’s at his best, doing 90 on a straightway,
Hey MW, I drink Red Bull because of Mark Webber,
Do you think his career’s in strife?
I like listening to Phil Collins’ ‘In the Air Tonight’,
It would be thrilling on the stereo of a Gallardo Superlight,
Though those sport seats are recaro-comfortable and really tight,
What a sight it is, particularly the V10 that’s mid-mounted,
It does 0-100 in the eights – thank God it was rescued by Audi,
All it wants is a six-speed manual and bigger tank for fuel,
I hope they know it’s easy to scuff the tyre wall,
I love it MW, the alcantara and leather, the way it shifts,
They didn’t ruin the power, at 8000rpm it just sings,
At the Nurburgring it’s devastating around the Lauda kink,
And the way it covers ground – continents it can shrink,
See MW,
DR provides a lot for reader talk,
Other sites should take note and not baulk,
But I shouldn’t gloat, you’re the ‘Dialogue’ guru,
Coz your poems wipe the floor with Eliot, and Eminem too,
Well, gotta go, I'm going to Dunlop Bridge now,
Oh, I forgot, hasn’t it been taken down?

Chorus

Dear Pete, I meant to rap on DR sooner but I’ve been filling up at BP,
Unleaded’s expensive now, how long before it’s 100p?
Look, I’m really happy you’re watching BTCC at Hatch,
And here's a personalised rhyme for you, I wrote it on a fuel-filler cap,
I'm glad you appreciate my flows, I like composing too,
Don't think this rhyme’s for fun and I’m just dissing you,
But what's this stuff about Eau Rouge, how about Blanchimont too?
I’m personally a big fan of Turkey at the beginning of June,
You need some evo issues Pete, your Car collection’s mounting,
You like reading Phil McNamara and Ben Barry in your down time,
And what's this stuff about the amusing column of Porter?
I agree, it should be promoted on the front cover,
I really think Massa and his father need each other,
Or maybe he just needs to drive better,
I hope he gets to see my letters, he’ll be at Silverstone in time,
He’s poor in the rain, but at the front he’s sublime,
If he relaxes a little, he could be champion multiple times,
He used to be bad, but try to understand he’s been in the shadow of the ‘Iceman’,
He’s monosyllabic and talks about having a sh*t,
I seen this one manoeuvre on Fisichella a few weeks ago that was totally sick,
He went round the outside with a couple of upshifts, on the edge of the track using the grip of his slicks,
And in his car he used the brakes going in to turn 2,
Come to think of it, Fisi should have too -
He crashed it!'

No more B-grade versions thanks and at least accredit your inspiration.

Nowhere near as funny as the recent Chris Harris/Stan parody.

Thanks for that. Never seen it before, in all honesty. The only thing that made me think of what I wrote were the vaguely psychotic superfan posts on the thread about him coming to PH. At least it shows there's a lot of scope for editing Eminem's work, although some efforts are clearly more successful than others. wavey Welcome to PH.redface

I know. Might even make it onto a PH T-shirt soon hehe! The Reem allowing use of the copyright notwithstanding, of course. Oh, and who the hell is MW?

"those of us on the street" ?

Are you homeless my poor chap? Or have I missed some sort of urban cultural reference perhaps?
