iphone 4 and Bluetooth connection problem
Discussion
I had this exact problem with my iphone 4. I think it just takes too long and times out, i cant remember exactly how i managed to get round it but it was somthing along the lines of :
I said "pair phone " waited untill it said enter pass code and then triggered the search on the phone
Or
The other way round , ie triggered the search on the phone waited untill it was searching and then triggered the car By saying pair phone.
Think the first one, if you do it logically the system doesnt react fast enough and youll be sat there all day.
If youre still having issues ill try it tommorow and get a definate answer

Can you turn off "SIM Access Profile" on the Jesus phone?
Bluetooth is a 'standard' where manufacturers only need to be compliant with bits of the standard. Apple have changed the specs of their Bluetooth implementation several times, and the iphone 4 is significantly newer than the Aston.

Pairing worked fine with my iPhone 4 but no joy with my iPhone 4S - just the same messages as above about waiting for ages.
Funnily, the phone will ring through my car speakers but when I go to talk to someone it is the phone's speakers that kick in, thus pretty useless as a hands-free implement

Tried for half an hour last night switching the phone search mode on first then pairing and switching it on after I had started the car system searching....still no luck.Even cleared all the Bluetooth pairings off my phone.
Have to return the car back to Aston for a power steering fluid leak so will see if they can do it.

For anyone still having problems this is how to do it (I was using an iphone 4S on a 2006 Vantage):-
Put the iphone Bluetooth into search mode.
Tell the car - Pair phone
Car tells you to put phone into search mode and then type 1 2 3 4 as the bluetooth code.
Phone will see the car - will list as Aston Martin. Put code in
It will then fail! Car says pairing failed.
But you now have the iphone recognising the Aston Martin bluetooth, so on the phone, select "Aston Martin" on the bluetooth menu. It will bring up the boxes to put in the passcode. Put in 1 2 3 4, but do NOT press pair on the phone yet.
Tell the car - pair phone. Then immediatley press the Pair button (top right) on the phone.
Should then pair straght away.
Have checked and phone is always then recognised on startup
Yes George H, I know, me and a product by Apple, but its not MY phone!

I found out that the best solution was to take it back to Aston Martin Amersham and see Alan who promptly ordered me up a new Bluetooth phone module and then installed it free of any charges and it all works beautifully now.
