2.4jtd, What Major things are needed at service
Discussion
I did a bit of a search and couldn't find anything answering these questions in the last 6 months or so.
I have a 156 2.4jtd it is a W Reg with 178k miles (yes I have typed that correctly) it was owned by the company I work for and has been a company car from new - a colleagues then mine. I bought it off the company for my wife to use. Do these engines need a cam belt change (or do they have chains?) it is due its next service at 182k miles - although I will probably change the oil myself next weekend and have it changed again in 4k miles with the service.
Is there any other major things that need to be changed that I should be aware of?

Cambelts every 72k, but I change mine every 36k.
Recently serviced mine, changed just about everything including plugs.
I did.
1. Air/oil filters
2. oil
3. plugs
4. pads front and rear, discs were ok.
5. Fuel filter
6. Antifreeze, complete coolant change
7. screenwash
Other than that everythign was fine, no brake fluid needed, exhaust ok, electrics ok, bulbs fine etc etc.
Edited to add that the above is probably irrelevant as I have a 2.0 twinspark.

Thats a relief, I started reading down thinking oh dear - it definately has not had a cambelt in the last 36k miles.
Cheers tho
You don't work in the Andover area do you? - you weren't the policeman in the X5 who pulled me over and gave me a good telling off (I have to admit it was a fair cop and deserved tho), last Sunday were you?

Change the "fan belt" if it hasn't been done. Not a big job, but they can delaminate and the strands can worm their way round the pulleys and make a right mess. Other than that, no real weak spots. Cambelt change every 72k on the JTD should be fine. Regular oil change with decent turbo diesel specific oil will help look after the turbo.
Good to hear it's stood up to a big mileage. How many suspension bushes have you gone through?!
