Bristol Black Carers
Discussion
Watching Saints and Scroungers on the BBC this morning there was a story of a women who need help been cared for, she got help off this "Council Funded" group who caters for............. you guessed it black only carers.
Now is it just me or is this yet more positive racism? If i was a white Bristol taxpayer i would be asking a lot of questions of my local councillors!

Any organisation with "Black" in the title should be scrapped. Black police union, MOBO awards and loads of others I can't think of right now. It might have been ok 20-30 years ago, but now we've moved on. Thing is, who would be brave enough to publicly tell them all their funding's going to be stopped. The women in that program received extra help/housing solely due to her colour.

She also received a day at a spa getting pampered, all paid for by Bristol tax payers.Totally agree with your MOBO's comment, there needs to be a music of white origin event!
I was thinking about the whole ‘racism’ thing this morning, mainly provoked by the Stephen Lawrence case. While it is widely accepted and reported that this was a racist murder, I have noticed that any black person that is murdered, it is generally reported as racist, irrespective of the motive behind it.

There is, it's called the Country Music Awards. White pride!! Woo!
Maybe but there is no "white" in the title. If the MOBO awards only allowed black winners, then the crocodile tears of the faux-offended might actually get some traction, but the fact is they don't and anyone can win a MOBO, white, black, whatever.
If you're that insecure about the lack of a MOWO then boo fricking hoo, frankly. Perhaps get up off your arse and start one.
"Oh but I'll be labelled a racist". Only by the ignorant

We're all of African descent
Hmmm... wouldn't it be just as applicable to say we're all of cosmic descent? You know, if you go back far enough.
Anyway - boils my piss this does. At work we have a "Women of Achievement" award (or similar)... it made me wonder whether a gender based award is really appropriate in the 21st century. Still, because of my position (not a permie) I'm in no place to comment internally (got nowt to do with me, essentially).
:sigh: best just ignore it all, I suppose.

Well yes but on their site it states 'African descent' explicitly...which I, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed, whiter-than-white skinned Scotsman would fall under.
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't correcting you, I was trying to highlight the stupidity of them saying "African descent" when, f
k it, we're all a derivation of carbon or some s
t like that. Kind of extrapolating the point you'd already made.
Apologies for the swearing, I'm in a grumpy mood today and I'm desperately trying not to explode in fury due this particular thread.

Assuming they are a registered charity, like many others that promote services to minority groups that councils and social services can't cater for they probably don't "exclude" anyone but specialise in providing an "Ethnically Sensitive" service.
This would be typical of say the Nicky Alliance in Manchester that provides care to Jewish service users, although not at the exclusion of others.
Charities can't or shouldn't be able to exclude any one group of users or potential users of their services as they would fail the public benefit test.
if you turned up at the door with a backpack on and an Osama bin Laden mask on they might not let you in though.... ;-)
ETA the bristol thing is likely to be one of those instances where the council funds a chairty organisation to fill a gap it thinks it needs to provide an inclusive service. That said the organisation involved shouldn't be publicly excluding anyone - in theory anyoen can go to them for help. in theory.
