In keeping in the spirit of Christmas, below are the mails between us which have ensued...

Dear Damien,

Thank you very much for your kind offer to pay for my model car. As I'm sure you can understand, the price advertised is based upon the value of the model at the time I bought it in 2006 and I therefore must add annual escalation at a rate of 3% per annum. This brings the total amount payable to £4477.70 GBP. Can you please confirm this is acceptable?

Furthermore, due to previous ventures (I am not willing to go into much detail, but can state that there was a misunderstanding between the gentlemen at Paypal, and my relationship with the military operatives of Ruanda) I am permanently banned from using Paypal. To circumvent your issues, I am however happy to take payment in gold bullion or any precious gemstone.

If this is all satisfactory to you, I will arrange a suitable drop off location for you to make your deposit. After receipt of the full and final payment, I will courier the model to your attention by any method I feel like it at the time.

Looking forward to your positive reply,

Thank you for your response,I can only make payment to you via paypal and you can easily open an account with paypal online,I will like you to remove the ad as I am really interested in buying it.i had this little problem with the picking up of the Item, I think you remember what i said in my previous mail that I'm working presently on the sea and i am buying the item for my dad so i tried to secure booking with my pick up agent, but they asked me to pay first before they can make the booking, and they only accept Western Union Money Transfer for payments and they don't accept PayPal or bank transfer. So I tried to send the money online but it's not going through and I am on the sea there is no way i can find a western union agent to make the transfer to my pick up agent, so i wanted to ask if it will be OK for me to include my pick up agent's fees together with your payments through PayPal,So you will help me wire the pick up fee to them via western Union Money Transfer immediately i pay you.I don't mean to bother you I'm sure you understand that I'm presently on the sea and there is nothing i can do to that. The bottom line is after I have made the payments via PayPal,you will help me wire my pick up agent fee to them through western union money transfer, I just wanted to seek your consent before going ahead with the payments,I will be very happy if my offer is given a favorable consideration,Respond as soon as possible so that i can send out your Payment and get back to me with your paypal email address so that i can make the payment out .

Hi Damien,

Thank you for your quick reply. I am more than happy for you to transfer your agents fees also to me. However, for this service, I am obliged to charge you an additional £669 administration fee making the total cost now £5,146.70. Is this acceptable to you?

Once again, I must reiterate that I am banned from using Paypal (through no fault of my own I hasten to add - if some African nations choose to buy illegal goods, I cannot prevent that). I can accept gold bullion or precious gems. As a gesture of goodwill for you to transfer the money for my model vehicle, I am also able to accept barrels of oil on this occasion only.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

ps. I previously forgot to mention that the pictures on the website are for display only and are not representative of the actual model.

I'd enjoy it very much if you got a knock on the door and he was stood there with a bag of diamonds.

I get the idea he may be at sea, he needs to make it clearer. I'd ask for his co-ordinates and suggest that as the head of a major cartel in drug-dealing, you can arrange personal delivery to his ship.

Tell him you have his Dad "somewhere safe" until the deal is concluded and will send parts of him back until it is.

Not only that but if you google the mobile number, it seems there are two others on the boat also interested in another car and also a piano!

Very entertaining to read, must admit I did laugh when he still replied after you claimed to be banned from Paypal and that Gold Bullion is a preferred payment.

I suppose for every 1000 people this doesn't work on there's one that they do fool.

Does it not worry any of you that out there somewhere is a poor oceanographer who keeps getting rebuffed despite offering to pay more than market value for every car he looks at?
