Anyone Have A HDMI Switcher?
Discussion
Just got one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005WF4AA4 to easily switch between consoles and the recorder but it's not working 100% for me so I was hoping someone could help me out if they've had a similar problem.
It's working fine with the Xbox but Flickers on and off whilst having a crackling effect for the PS3. This only happens when I output at 1080p (it can take 1080p & the Xbox outputs 1080p fine too), once I switch it to 1080i or less there's no problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Still waaaay too much mate but thanks anyway. Oh well after a quick search it seems the reviews are 50/50, it works fine for some but then is a complete waste of a product and money from others. DOUGH. Pretty annoying really, it's a device that switched between inputs, how hard can that be.
Don't buy this product ha ha.

I had one of those to switch between my PS3 and FreeSat HD boxes. Most of the time it worked fine.
The couple of things I found:
1) Sometimes, if the PS3 or FreeSat box was powered up before the TV, the screen would show green. If I pressed the button on the thing or power cycled the PS3/FreeSat box it would then work.
2) I had some interference ( sparkly screen ) when using the PS3. I fixed it by swapping round the HDMI cables ( not using new ones, just swapping them ). I've no idea why that fixed it, but it did.
I dont use it now as I bought a new TV a couple of months ago with more HDMI connections.

Thanks Snuffy, thrown away now though lol. I think the link below is the one your on about Silent1, will certainly have a look at this option if the boss lets me next time I'm around Maplin. The amount of cables behind TV is just ridiculous at the moment, I need a bloody big black box to hide them all in & the wife has starting to calling me The Cable Guy

HDMI switching can be a pain due to handshaking and the encryption it uses. Cheaper switches and PS3s don't mix usually but in my experience the xbox is pretty forgiving. If you going to pay £70+ you may as well buy a 5.1 AV Amp that switches as well and get more value for money. Richer sounds start doing them from £200 upwards.

I recently bought one of those. Autoswitcher doesn't seem to work but its fine with the remote. Just a shame it is yet another remote to lose!
I'm on my second one of these from Maplins - The first one stopped working completely after a few months, The second one has worked OK for the last year or so mostly, But every now and again just refuses to display a picture until it's power cycled. One of the inputs doesn't work at all. I won't be buying a 3rd when this one finally dies.stargazer30 said:

Why I didn't get one of them a long time ago I don't know tbh. The second I mentioned it (& the price) she started talking about decorating n all that rubbish, something tells me I'm going to have to work for this essential gadget.santacruzsteve said:
