Tadcaster is nice and close to work, big enough to have a few pubs etc, close to mainroad...

Its likely me and a mate Will be looking for somewhere to rent hopefully in the next few months. We both work in Sherburn and we're both used to a nice short commute. So anywhere within ten miles radius really - So East Leeds/Garforth/Aberford/Kippax etc, which I know all about as thats where I'm from. Also This side of Caslteford Knottingley etc. Then theres Tadscater, maybe Wetherby to the North, and Selby to the East, plus whatever comes in between.

Tadcaster seems to appeal, bit expensive but its easy to get into Leeds or York, very close to work, big enough to have some decent pubs and a bit of something to do.

Any thoughts? Reccomendations of anywhere else? Anyone know any good Letting agents in the area to look up?

Try Church Fenton maybe? There are some flats near the station, some may be for rent. Only 2 pubs though. Train is handy for Leeds and York.

Google is your friend!
Tad is on the quiet side however if that is fine there are pubs, gym, pool, supermarkets and great road access

Tad is on the quiet side most definitely, plenty of older residents and not too many young uns. My parents own a house there currently lived in by an elderly relative.

It is a good location to have a semi-rural lifestyle without being miles from the major cities/motorways and of course your work.

I personally like the decent pubs with proper beer, the river and the surrounding villages in that area. Great spot to live if slightly more expensive than other areas IMO.

Wetherby is a good call. Bang on the A1, a few pubs to go at, twenty mins to Leeds or York and, Harrogate ten-fifteen mins up the road for great bars and restaurants.

And you're close to lots of nice empty roads.

I have lived in Tadcaster for about 5 Years. Really great place to live as road access is awesome. House prices are cheaper than Wetherby and the pubs are great !
I work in Leeds and with the new link road it only takes 20 mins on a bad day.

The "Elmet" area is pretty nice. Barwick and Scholes are Fairly quiet and you can get anywhere pretty quickly from them both. Scholes is "missing" a pub at the moment as the Buffers is awaiting a new tenant but the Barleycorn seems to be good enough for my 20 year old son to hang out in. Barwick has a few more pubs with good pub grub.

Don’t want to sound daft, but what is wrong with actually living in Sherburn?

There are two very new estates, one within maybe 10-15 years old and then the older part. Plenty of houses to rent, within a varied price range. Nice busy centre, and one or two good pubs, one or two rough pubs and a Sam Smiths.

Just a thought.

Used to serve lethal Ayingerbrau in the Barleycorn!
