My odometer has stopped registering, the speedo works fine but the mileage count has stopped! frown
As I don't want to be accused of 'clocking' the car can I take the speedo apart easily and free it up?

Also, the tacho works fine on the way up but when I change down in gear it bounces around for ages before stabilising, any ideas?

The chim was bad for this as well give it a good bash on top of the dash while driving and it should clear in time keep at it.

Sounds Crude but it does work.

There speaks a man who has experienced the same problem!

Mine does this every 1,000 miles - you have to rap the glass quite hard (quite hard means "if I hit that any harder I'm gonna break it and cut myself"), while driving, to "jolt" it into moving again. I'm sure there's a more technical fix, mind...

As for the bouncy Tacho Mine does this between gear changes too. I think Alot of them do this and it is a case of send it away for a re-build or learn to live with it. I did the later as it is some tvr charm. and is fine when on a steady cruise.

Mine normally starts working after 100 miles or so. 3 times I've booked it in to be fixed (yes yes, I did the dash bash myself, I'm not 'completely' useless tongue out) and 3 times it has restarted of its own accord.

Are you referring to fixing the bouncy rev counter?

Mine gets stuck everytime when going from 49999, 59999, etc. a couple of good wacks to the glass in front of the mileometer and it clicks over.

I asked them for a quote to fix the same problem about six weeks ago, £60 - £80 + carriage + VAT

I also asked for an estimate of their time to process but got no answer to this question! I have heard they can take a long time...

If you live without the rev counter I would not worry too much, the speedo is more of a problem as you don,t want to get nicked cop for speeding and not having a speedo in the first place. I put my cerb in for a service and few other bits while the speedo was being fixed.

Give STR8Six a call. According to the service history on mine they turned around a repair on the rev counter in 4 days back in April

Holy thread resurrection!

My Odometer has stopped reading at 49999 miles and I could remember this thread from yonks ago. Had to remind myself if there was anything more technical than just giving it a good bash.

Looks like it's going to get a good hiding on the way home.

Well, I'm resurrecting this thread again because I am the happy new owner of Byff's Cerb, and I found this thread because it is now stuck on 69999. Looks like it will be getting another good hiding! biglaugh
