Ok, so I am getting a new car smile, so will be transferring my existing insurance that I have over to the new car...However I have sold my car prvate, which is getting collected exactly a week after I recieve my new one, I am aware of temp insurance, but I am wondering if there is an alternative way of insuring this car...It will be on a driveway and is not going to be driven during this week (if this helps)

Someone help!

Who are you with? I took out temp insurance on my last car when I bought my current car a few years ago. It was only for 1 week (car parked on busy street so didn't want to take the risk) and it only cost ~£15 through my insurers (Bell).

thanks!

I was made aware of the new law about all cars needing to me insured as off feb 2011?

But the risk of something happening to the car during that week is surely worth paying the money for temp insurance....best quote ive had is £60 (seems expensive???) for a week under my dads name...I'm only 19, (too youg for temp cover apparently) just to complicate things further!

The best person to discuss it with is your insurer. They're having to deal with these things on a regular basis now and are generally set up to do so.

Similar situation here, except I haven't actually sold my old car yet, but hope to soon. I'm insured with Elephant.com, who have changed the details of my existing policy to the new car and given me temporary car cover for the old one. They would do anything from 1 week up to 30 days, renewable after then if required/car not sold. Was really very simple and cheap.

I think it was about £15 for a week. I went for 30 days, which was £30.

Check with insurer. Mine offered an overlap.
