Find out who else can provide in your area. I know where I am you can only have a BT line so an ISP have to rent the line from BT then sell it to you. Try BT and see what they are offering .

I had much the same experience with BT, took them 3 months to fix an issue with my connection.

I'm now with O2 and have found their customer service to be miles better. The last time I had an issue they managed to get a BT engineer to my house faster than BT did when I was with them!!

I'm with BT as they're currently the only provider in my area to offer an optical line. As soon as everyone else offers the same speeds and my contract is up, I'll be off shopping around again.

I was previously with Sky and was more than happy with the service we got, but they simply couldn't compete with BT infinity.

Same here. Had 20MB Sky broadband, reasonable price and decent, reliable performance. Now we have a home office, lots of laptops and Xboxs being used we went with BT Infinity. Had the occasional drop in speed at first but its been consistent for a good while now, speed is usually around 37MB.

Update:

Surprise Surprise, I rang AOL to get the MAC code to allow me to switch provider to BT internet.

they told me that although they tested the line last night and was no fault they have tested it again today and found a fault rolleyes

They are sending an engineer out FOC to fix it for me on Monday, but have given me a 0800 number to ring to cancel the engineer if it sorts itself out before then.

What's the betting that it sorts "itself" out as if by magic before the close of play today.

Tossers!

BT Broadband and and BT Openreach (engineers) are different companies, just share the BT part still. So being with BT broadband wont necessarily give you a better service.

Update:

Well, it was working when I got home, then dropped at about 18:30, I've tried three different (all brand new) routers on my line now and none of them will connect to the internet...The other person in my village with AOL is having the same problems..yet those with Sky or BT broadband are still connected without any of the issues I've been having (We are all on BT lines).

Engineer is booked (as of yesterday) to come out to me on Monday FOC.

Then it is Goodbye AOL, I'm not renewing my contract regardless of weather this guy fixes it or not nono

I'm in a quandary as well. Currently with Virgin and the contention on the line is terrible in the evening. Coupled with the traffic shaping, BF3 can be pretty st in the evening if I've been wfh.

Was considering BT infinity but have heard some not so good things about it and BT's generally shoddy customer service. In about 10 years (jesus!) with Virgin/NTL only had 2 serious outages.

I don't have a BT line but am considering getting one so I can go with this lot: www.bethere.co.uk

They get very good reviews and seem quite reasonable.

According to my Router status I've had an Uninterrupted connection for 24hrs now.
Amazing what asking for the MAC code will do.

Sorry AOL I'm still binning you
