Forza 4 & no kinect......

Is it possible to play Forza 4 without having to play online?
I found that NFS hot pursuit can only be played under "career" mode without kinect/online & you are very limited to what you can do...

Is this the same with Forza?

Definately don't need a kinect. And as far as I can tell you can play the game without going online. Obviously you'll not be able to do the online racing. But the main game "career mode" should all be fine.

There is an achievement in the list that asks you to win a race using only Kinect to drive the car, if you don't have Kinect, like me, you won't be able to get it

If you have the silver membership to Live, I think it still lets you buy and sell from the storefront and download car packs but I'm not completely sure about that

If your Xbox is connected to the internet, silver membership is free, if not then only the basic features will be available unfortunately

Career mode is pretty massive though and loads of cars available to play with. The Kinect driving achievment is not wort worrying about though as the control you get using Kinect is rubbish!. The car auto accelerates and autobrakes, all you do is steer by holding your arms out in front of you.... seriously crap as compared to actually using a controler or wheel there is lag that can easily effect your lines (and try braking late when you, well, dont actually have any say in the brakes).

One minus point of not being online is no game updates or DLC... and some of the DLC for Forza 4 is fantastic (Mk2 Escort, Ford Raptor pickup, new Pagani etc).

The thing I am finding with NFS hot pursuit on career mode is there are only about 4 different courses to choose from. I am winning alot of cars etc but I am bored of the same courses & I don't think anymore are available unless I play online?

There are loads of different permutations of tracks on hot pursuit. The only way you get more is by paying for the downloadable content packs (dlc) online. But simply playing online doesn't unlock anymore for you.

Have you moved up vehicles class? That usually unlocks further places to race.

As for Forza, even without an internet connection there is a massive amount of content there to play.

So if you look across the map in Hot Pursuit, are there only 4 or 5 badges? From memory by the end of my game, there were about 20+ badges, all of which took in various areas (some of them crossing over into nearby ones).

I can only see 3 different stages & they were all there at the very beggining. I will take a look tonight because I must be doing something wrong if other stages are available.

You must be, once you've won or placed high enough in those races, you'll unlock more stages, get a few more and it unlocks the next tier of cars, so you move from Z4s and Boxsters through to 911s and eventually up to the likes of the Veyron.

They did let me have a go in a Lambo even if it was a police one!
