Hi all. I've got a 2006 Cayman and following heavy rain (is it ever going to stop?)the carpet at the bottom of the doors is soaking. I've done a bit of searching on the net and the only thing I came up with was on a US forum which was talking about a foil inner door seal that had become unstuck.

The conclusion seemed to be that you could remove the door panels and re-seal but it would happen again very shortly!

Has anyone any experience of this and any solutions.

Thanks in advance.

You will need to watch this as from experience with a boxster there are electronics on the floor underneath the seats that can cause some problems if you get water. Problem on mine was a broken roof part and associated issues on drains under roof. I needed to renew door seals also.

Dave, do a search for an old post of mine on this very topic (sorry, on the train) and you'll find all you need to get the job done.

ETA - Ok, the post i was referring to is here. The only additional info is to carefully remove the electrical & mechanical items held on to remove the old panel. Included with this is the airbag module, which was easily removed but needed disconnection of the battery (and a suitable waiting period to discharge any residual power in the system).

Hi, this is quite a common fault and seems to be an age related fault. They are different from the earlier cars as they do not have a door sealing membrane but have a steel door inner panel and a foam type bead of sealant to seal it to the door.. These cost around £110 each and need to be replaced if leaking.

Would be in the region of £500 for both doors.
