No surprises there you might think...

However, my main dealer has just offered well below what the online sharks are offering me and i'm pretty pissed. I do not like being taken for a fool and have come here to vent. furious

Now the reason I'm double pissed is that they have a pretty much identical car within their network which is priced sensibly, however if I were to take the lowly offer, and assuming they put it up at a similar price they would be making near 7k mark-up. Ridiculous.

I'm actually tempted to put in a complaint, but wonder what the PH masses think first....

p.s. I am not a deluded owner who thinks their car is worth more than it is. I know the market.

Let us know the car, milage and year and we will judge for you. Could very well just be that they don't want it as they have too much stock already or know it will be hard to sell and be a risk to send to auction.

Sell your p/x yourself and see what deal they can offer on the car you want. You don't have to take their offer you know wink

Although they will want to make a healthy mark up, they also need to cover them selves regarding warranty and if it needs any new parts or work done on it before they put it up for sale again. To be honest, I reckon they just dont want your car. Sell it privately and you will get a better discount if you just buy the car rather than part ex.

Did the nasty man hold a gun to your head when he made the offer?

It's just business.

Sell your car for what you think it's worth and then go back with no swapper.

It's not rocket science.

They're not holding you to ransom. A deal is done when both partys are happy with the offer. If your not happy then walk away.
Either he doesn't want your car or doesn't want to sell you the car you want. There could be lots of reasons for either.

Find someone who will do a deal your happy with.

Maybe that's why, they don't want two identical cars to sell??

To be fair you approached them and asked for an offer and they made one. If you don't want to accept that offer you are under no obligation to. Not worth stressing yourself out over.

Putting in a complaint, because they offered to buy your car off you for less than you want?
Sounds like it

Both cars in your profile show as being modified in some way which would also put them off, would expect your BMW to be £6900 - £7375 (average condition cap black book trade in for a 65k miles Feb 2007 130i Msport) but could be quite a bit less if it has more than the 60k miles they would want on it to be able to resell as BMW approved used.

Jeez, sorry OP, but they are free to offer you whatever they like.
You are also free to accept or decline whatever you like.
The end.

To be fair no two cars are identical so there may well be something about the other car which makes it more valuable than yours.

With regards to the mark-up whether or not that is excessive depends on what they've offered you. If they've offered you £7k and are selling for £14k that DOES sound excesive. However offering you £50k and selling for £57 isn't (probably).

What are you complaining about? You've offered to sell them a car, they've said what it's worth to them. If that's less than you're willing to sell it for, sell it to someone else to whom it's worth more or keep it.

If they're offering well below market rate, it's probably because they don't want it.

More details needed.

7k mark up on a Ferrari/Porker understandable.

Mondeo....wtf?

Guys.... I'm not naive to the market place. I'm a stockbroker so I understand market dynamics better than most.

I'm really looking for advice as to whether this is underhandedness that is worthy of a complaint.

In never been offered below what an online shiester would offer.

My Cayman S DE1 is on an '08 plate with 28,000 on the clock - the spec is silly: PASM, PSE, BOSE etc etc etc way more than on most Cayman's

http://www.dicklovett.co.uk/Dealers/Porsche/Used-C...

The above link is within their group and is an older car with a slightly lower milage, but the spec is MUCH lower.

Market price for my vehicle should be between 28k and 30k if they'd offered close to 25k they would not of insulted me.

Well you aren't the first and won't be the last.

I've been there with DL when they made offer on my last Boxster. Only in my case the mark up they were making would have been nearer £10k

Move on. Can't see any point complaining.
