On Saturday, I will be PX'ing the Vectra I have owned for just under 6 years. It has carted our growing family round the country, and me to work and back each day without fail. It has needed only a wiper motor outside of wear and tear parts. Not once has it failed to start, or get stuck in the snow.

I already feel gutted about walking away from it for the last time to get in the new car. It almost feels like getting rid of a family pet.

I know it is only a boggo standard Vectra, but do any of you lot feel the same after a long term ownership of a car?

Yes, hard not to if the car is special but also if its formed a part of your life, I even got slightly widtful about our VW Sharan when it went.

Still want to know where my old Capri (OJA 375G) went, kind of wish I didnt sell it but not being vlessed with a warehouse to store old cars in I cant keep them.

Definitely. Sold my CL as we were having a baby, then ended up with two cars (one of which was a sedan to carry the baby - man maths at work!). I kept in periodic contact with the new owner and expressed a desire to buy it back if he ever decided to sell.

Despite knowing this, he then traded it in for a pittance on an Audi (I would paid substantially more) - to this day I cannot understand why he did that.

I found out by seeing it on ebay being punted on by some other dealership who bought stock from the Audi garage and came very close to buying it back but could not at that particular point in time.

Cried my eyes out selling my beloved classic Mini. Bought it at fifteen, passed my test in it, owned it for nine years and sold it last year. Miss him already. cry

Will get tearful watching the Tuscan go, I used it as my Wedding car last year so loads of photos of it in the wedding album.
