I don't know of a Royal Automobile Club Club - perhaps a less tautologous title would yield a better response wink

You either missed my point, don't understand the meaning of tautologous, or have RAS Syndrome.

Not a member myself but a family member is. Every time he invites me I have to decline on the basis that my wardrobe is devoid of any trousers that aren't jeans!

TBH, I struggle to go more because of the dress code. When I leave the office, get out of the suit and cycle home, the last thing I want to do is put on another. Although there are rooms where you can wear chinos, cords etc and a shirt without a tie or jacket. This also applies at the weekend throughout most of the areas in the club. Usually I'm just there to use the gym and sauna so can walk in wearing whatever.

I love the rotunda the best, when you walk in and guess what car they'll have on display. This week there is a 1956 Bristol Drophead Coupe, owned by a member, who drove it around the world with his wife in 16 months - 33,000 miles. Apparently, it wasn't damaged or stolen throughout that period but the first week back in the UK and a trip to the local supermarket resulted in a dented door!

I'm not a member but go as a guest a little, and one day Steve Cropley (of Autocar) was waiting for his guest, so I introduced myself, and was thrilled that he took the time to engage in car chat - made my week.

It is a great little club, but just wish it was more car orientated. And I wish that I had been a member when the payout happened!
