So I'm wanting to travel to the nurburgring in April in a 911 Carrera. Its a standard car and I have 5 points for an SP30 (Very trivial case) I don't intend to track that car however I will be doing some instruction in another vehicle.

Do you think I have a prayer of getting insurance on the 911??

No.

Unless you have exceedingly deep pockets.

Also an insurance company may not agree that a 5 point SP30 is trivial as the range is 3-6.

I think you will be surprised. I had a quote on a new 911 turbo for a laugh the other day, im 23 and pay £750 on my 330ci, the quote for the porka came out about £3500.

You `could` take it out, opt to pay monthly, then cancel when your back (loosing your deposit i`d have thought)

Although if you do crash you will still be liable for the remainder of the premium

This might sound crazy, but bear with me....

Why don't you call a a few insurance companies and find out?

You know, just a thought.

That's just crazy talk.

Why on earth would he want to do that?

When he could ask on here, instead of the experts.

Well I got a Confused.com best quote for a brand new Gen2 997, 26 at the time with a clean license and no claims, for £1100, which oddly enough dropped to £950 when I put the girlfriend on it.

In the end I ended up sticking it on the old man's fleet policy for about £850

Yes you will be fine. Insurance on a 996 911 turbo for me @ 21 with a ban + 3 points was £1400.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yeah the 5 points is a trivial one.

I have already enquired about getting it on my fleet, my current car is no sloth and they insure me on that so I'm optimistic. Deep pockets? My pockets will deepen to follow this passion that for sure.

Also thank you for the bullst pipe dream comment sounds a bit like jealousy to me. Grow up sunshine ; )

You might try and play it down and say they're 'trivial' but I assure you, any insurer considering backing you to drive a Porsche will not see it that way, especially at the 'Ring. It may well be in order that you look for something that will be easier to insure given your motoring history:

How can 5 points for a single offence be in any way trivial? 3 points would be for a trivial offence my man.

Please also name your "no sloth" current car.

This.

I think it may be cheaper than you think!

Remeber insurance companys work off statistics. How many folk your age are driving cars like that?
