Hi all

just had chassis all rubbed, sealed n sorted and am about to check out the respray world and remembered I still have not fixed the frustration that i reckon I've had for 2 years now .. the damn drivers mirror will not tighten up .. I've currently resorted to jamming stuff in it to stop it falling forward - kinda cannot get it to spin round and tighten - any suggestions please ?

thanks

If you're going to have re-spray I guess you will take the mirrors off anyway. The above are links which may help you. If the mirror is that loose I expect that either the grub screw has come undone or the tripod has broken. Having just done this job I strongly suggest that you tighten the grub screw in the correct position (finding the correct position is the hard bit) and then screw the mirror back into the door in one piece.

You will need immense patience to do this job .....or a lot of luck!

If all else fails, you could simply replace your cardboard with some thin neoprene rubber, which you can buy from a craft shop in various colours (I chose black). Cut it into small strips and push them one by one into the gap around the collar using a screwdriver. It's a bodge, but a surprisingly effective one that doesn't look too bad.

Fit later Corrado mirrors and say goodbye forever to the silly French arrangement with a sensible Teutonic fitting wink

Even the upgrade is easier than removing or refitting the originals.

Might need to do this shortly, who does the conversion blocks these days? I seem to remember someone having a batch made but can't recall who...
