Does anyone have any recommendation on Laptop based OBD II reader/scanner, I sure say a thread on this but I can’t find it.

It would be nice if could also act as a pseudo data logger with the idea that you plug it in with the laptop NOT connected and then download the data from it.

I’ve seen some with Bluetooth or WiFi connections advertised on the internet but I have no idea if they’re any good.

I don’t really want to spend a fortune as it’s really a “nice to have” though the flip side I don’t want to buy a hunk of junk.

It’s not for the Ultima as it’s MoTec but for my other cars.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage S
Audi A6
VW Golf
Lotus Elise S1 111S (2000) this might be a tricky one as some said it OBD and some readers don’t work on it.

I've got a little Launch Creader V, does everything I want it to do. I do believe the new one is out (Vi), but I havn't looked at it yet.

i'm using a cheap ELM327 with Torque Pro software, definately worth the money, less than 20 pounds for adapter and software.... need an android phone though, but they're cheap too.

The Launch Creader V looks interesting and the price isn't bad. Though from what I see it looks to be a stand alone unit not a hook up to a Laptop type, though please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've seen some cool ones for phones but so far I've not seen any compatible ones for my phone and it's not really what I'd like. Though maybe good to keep in mind.

It is standalone. TBH, thats why I like it, but it all depends on what you want it to do!
