Following on from the other threads, in the medium term where are GT3/RS prices going?

Currently a good 996 GT3 is £35-40k so will these fall to the £25k level in 3-5 years? If not and they have reached a plateau, what effect with the 997.1 cars have on prices? Will we have a situation where 996 and early 997 cars are in the same ballpark or will 996 cars fall further?

What about the RS cars? Excepting the 4.0 of course which according to some on here will be worth £4m in the next few months rolleyesbiggrin

We are currently in a period of financial belt tightening, however the price of a 996 GT3 has remained about the same at the bottom of the market (ergo the bit I check) since about 2008 (when I started checking). That said the later cars are heading towards the same position as the relative difference in age becomes less important.

To summarise:

If you buy a GT3 the potential depreciation will in the worst case be less than virtually any other comparable car in absolute terms particularly if you buy a 1999-2003 one. You may be lucky and find out if you hold on to it long enough for a long time it will go up. If you can afford it a 911 GT3 is a pretty safe bet.

On the contrary, it's not getting dull, it's always been.
Buy it drive it and enjoy it. If you can't afford it (or indeed the depreciation) then don't buy it.

How much is it worth?, how much will it be worth?, RMS, IMS..............

Why is the Porsche forum page always on such a downer?

I bought this new, no it’s not worth that amount anymore, doubt it ever will be again. I am happy to realise I will loose money on it. But every time I fire it up the sound emitting from those twin titanium exhaust pipes makes me smile!

No offence to the op btw.

What a lovely car well done. I keep thinking about a 997 GT3 for myself at some point.

This is so true. I've never known a forum like it. Maybe PH can add residuals to the swear filter?

Too right, Mike.

As well as the driving there's also some fun in making them better than they were when you bought them, but that doesn't come free either. Eeek, maybe we have problems biggrin

Try the Ferrari clubs. They seem to talk about nothing else. Go on a run with them and panic sets in if anyone dares go over 30mph... god forbid actually taking a corner pulling a small bit of G force ! wink

Probably understandable if we're talking early Testarossas and 348s . . . biggrin

Right, that's it.

Any more chat about values, trade in or otherwise, seats, frickin "should I change to mach 3 to preserve the value of my spyder because a smooth face means £50 more on the deal" and all I'm going to do is post pictures of my car.

Enough is enough.

If anyone else would be so gratious to also post pics of their cars then we can fill these mind numbingly boring threads up with pics of fine metal, i'll start:
