Anyone know much about MK1 Golf GTi's??

I am currently restoring a Fiesta RS Turbo which I hope to be complete in the Spring.

Having looked on e-bay I think I may have spotted my next project!

Is it just me or does this one look extremely clean and original? I know it is very hard from pictures alone.

I have e-mailed the seller and asked them to check for rust on the inner front wings, around the windscreen, cills, boot floor, arches etc.

Is it inevitable that it will be rusty and £1000's worth of welding needed or could it be a good one.

I am happy to drive to have a look but if I can avoid a wasted trip by the means of my fellow Pistonheads's offering advice I would be very grateful.

That will be a right old money pit IMHO.

I bought a mk2 that had been standing around for a while, not even anywhere near as long as that and my hand was never out of my pocket.

Grill looks right to me, i recall only the campaigns had the extra 2 driving lights

That shyte sunroof is a crime though
