Where do you sell a Tuscan?

I live in the middle of nowhere so advertising in papers and magazines is a bit pointless. I'm trying to sell my Tuscan and other than the Autotrader web site I don't know where to post it. Is there a specialist web site that anyone knows of? (I'm suprised Piston Heads haven't got a section for this)

put it in Top Marques Magazine and on the autotrader web site if you want to sell.

Besr in mind that TVR's are specialist and complex, therfore you price needs to be at least 5k under a dealer price to make it worthwhile with no warranty, back up and so forth

Thanks for that reply, I've placed the car at £29,995 which I think is about £5-£6000 under what a dealer would charge for this car (an '02 with FTVRSH, 12 month warranty, MOT Aug '05 and just serviced).

I got the price by looking at what dealers were charging on Autotrader and then deducting the amount you suggested. It's been up for almost a week and there isn't much interest. I think it's because I'm up in Scotland and there isn't much call for Tuscans up here (I have only ever seen one other Tuscan in the whole time I have lived here). Anyone have any other theories that can help me sell?

Michael i would say your right, couple that with what is generaly a lack of confidence in buying the car privately i.e. zero warranty.

Someone who never dreamed of a TVR may see it and not realise they are that reasonably priced.

Let's face it, it's gonna be better looking and faster than nearly everything else up there. People just won't realise it.

4 or 500 miles to buy an exclusive sports car is no problem for a serious buyer. Do a tempter by offering an overnight hotel stop over perhaps, if the journey has been a long one. Good luck.

I used to live in a little village near Settle (North Yorks) only an hour or so from Manchester, Leeds Bradford or Liverpool. Was selling a perfectly good 500 quid looked after hatchback. The Autotrader (Northwest) had 3 pages of the same car. Could I get anyone to come and look? Nope.

I put a sign in the window and the bloke down the road bought it 12 minutes later. He never even took a test drive.

His son has written off his car on a wall (pissed) and he had no way of getting to work the next day.

Always worth a sign !

I bought my Chimaera there at the weekend - picked it up yesterday - straight forward transaction, and a great deal for me , although I cant guarantee that you will have a buyer as straightforward as me.

the reason I mentioned it was that as a potential purchaser the three places i checked everyday were Pistonheads, Autotrader and E-bay.

I have had TVRs before so sort of knew what i was looking for when buying, you may jsyt get a Muppet though who will mess you about, best to make contact with your high bidders on a regular basis to sound them out or remove their bids if they dont seem genuine.

There are people on there buying cars for cash at high cost so could be worth a shot

To get the ball rolling, I looked on Autotrader internet (via cable tv), Pistonheads & purchased the car from an advert I read in TVR sprint magazine.
