Im in the process of selling my Audi S4 saloon, and currently plan to get a B5 RS4.
Ive pretty much made my mind up, but as always I am researching alternatives before commiting.

What other options are there? I cant really think of any!
Budget is 10-11k

Options that are NOT viable to me for various reasons:
No Subaru of any sort
No Legnums
Anything with a V8
No auto/tiptronic box
No Vectra VXR (although I wouldnt class that as high performance personally LOL)

Why no V8? If its a running costs thing then you are in for a massive shock with the RS4.

E63 AMG is the equivalent I think.

I would have thought AMG C or E class models would be worth a look.

No V8's simply because I hate the sound they make!

Running costs is not an issue, my S4 is running 500bhp with an RS4 engine, so I know exactly how they are to live with/run

Which Merc?
Most seem to be V8 and/or auto

I sense a great disturbance in the force, as if a million pistonheads just died.

If I got a BMW it would probably be the famous 330d, but am trying to avoid that option

Honestly, Ive never liked the sound a V8 makes, its as simple as that!
Its pretty much the main reason Im not looking at an RS6, hence the RS4 being the best choice
However, I LOVE the V6 soundtrack smile

M5 Touring? Or is a V10 not to your liking either?

Nissan Stagea?

Main problems with those however (other than the fact that they are hard to find, grey imports and inhale V-Power) is that the exciting ones never came with manual boxes IIRC. You had to choose between the 2.5T AWD or a manual box, couldn't get both. If you are willing to go aftermarket however you have quite a few options.

M5 Touring is over budget.

Whats so insane about not liking a V8?
I bet there are plenty of people on here that have a dislike for a certain engine sound, mine happens to be V8
