Looking to head down to the south of France and northern Italy for a fortnight in July.

Need advise with the route down. Want to take two days from the midlands to the south of France...ie one night stop over. Want to take in Millau bridge and avoid toll roads where possible. Thinking around clermont ferrand would be a good target point from the UK assuming we accepted that day one would be long.

Any pretty places to stay around CF? Is Millau really worth it?

Looking for an apartment self catered to stay in for five or so days once on the south coast. Anyone have one to rent or know an area or apartment worth recommending?

Cheers folks. Now need to decide what car to take down!

I think you'll struggle to reach the Millau in 2 days if you're avoiding toll roads. A great place to stay about 20 miles SE of CF is http://www.aubergedechassignolles.com/web/lauberge... It's run by a couple who also have a gastro pub in London. Really remote and at high elevation. The food was superb and accomodation was a bit basic but spotlessly clean. Very well priced and very different from anywhere I'd ever stayed.
