My search for a sub £10k barge is almost at an end. After an awful lot of deliberation and input from the PH collective about what to get next, a Lexus was what I decided on. I have always wanted to experience the mythical waft factor and build quality that's associated with the marque and naturally went straight to the Mothership LS430. My attention has been distracted by it's more contemporary looking Brother, the GS430 though. It's almost current shape, so even a same age one looks much newer. I'm sure it would be a slightly sharper drive, but that's not really what you would buy either of these cars for. I definately prefer the look of the GS, but I wonder if getting one would mean missing out on ultimate barge factor! Has anyone got experience of the two cars? To keep things on track, this thread is not about Lexus being an unimaginative brand that builds boring cars, followed by suggestions of alternatives that I promise you, have already been considered! My search is almost over and I'm at the T-Junction that sits between these two models. Over to you! smile

GS is smaller faster and sportier.

But somehow I still prefer the LS.

I know what you mean. I kind of feel like if I'm going to do the 'Lexus thing', I may as well go the whole hog, but the LS does look old against the GS, both inside and out.

Drive them both, you might find that the GS wafts just as well, or to an acceptable level, as the LS. I had an old LS as a banger and the only complaint I had was that in certain situations it was just a bit longer than I would have liked. The GS may only be 8" shorter, but that might mean the difference between using that last car park spot or not.

They are both invisible compared to what they are replacing as the daily driver.

I think what I meant was that the LS IS a great tourer.

The GS is supposed to be sporty and it isn't really.

If you want a tourer get the LS if you want something sporty the GS probably isn't it.
