What to do about a car like this
Discussion
So I have a (52 plate) Saab 9-5 aero that has lunched the bottom end of its engine, its been sitting on my drive for 6 months and should really go now, so what should I do with it? Background info, it was a good car before the engine ate itself. Straight panels, nice interior, auto gearbox good etc. So what should I do with it?
A) get someone to come and collect it for scrap get a couple of hundred £ and forget about it
B) Get a new engine for about £750 fit it and sell it on
C) Break it
I don't have a lot of spare cash and prices of used Saabs are about £2.50p a go I also rent so don't want loads of bits of cars laying around and also the hassle of tryingto din someone on ebay to buy a front passenger door for a saab 9-5 in black ...

It's not insured so I can't set fire to it

d) Full and honest write up plus good photos, ebay, no reserve, Buyer collects.
An enthusiast / Easter European will turn up with a trailer and it'll be gone.
I tried this on PH and not one phone call An enthusiast / Easter European will turn up with a trailer and it'll be gone.

Or this - it lets someone that's going to do either B or C to have the hassle and you'll get more than scrap value usuallyMatt UK said:

That - be COMPLETELY honest and include "non runner for spares or repair" in the TITLE of the auction as well as IN BIG LETTERS IN THE DESCRIPTION.An enthusiast / Easter European will turn up with a trailer and it'll be gone.
Scrap price on your car is likely not much more than a grand - start it at that...

A or B - if you can fit an engine and make more out of doing so then B.
People always say (especially on SOTW) "it'll break for more than that!!!!!" but it'd be the biggest pain in the arse ever IMO.
OF COURSE it will break for more than it scraps for... how do you think scrappies make their money!?People always say (especially on SOTW) "it'll break for more than that!!!!!" but it'd be the biggest pain in the arse ever IMO.
