Engine swap - tiger

Hi,
Basically talking myself into a engine swap from a pinto to something else for my tiger cat e1.
Just wondering what sort of price people think for labour from a garage would be? I don't have the skills or expertise for an engine swap (signed up for a mechanics course at the local college).
I intend to source the parts myself.
If anyone fancies doing it for me in the Manchester area.........

No idea what the cost would be to get that done. I would take it to someone that specialies in tigers or kit cars though.
Before i got my Westfield I was looking at a few Tigers and spoke to http://www.tiger-super-cat.co.uk/ and they were pretty helpful. They are based over in Chester so they are reasonably close to you.

I'll give them a bell. Prob go the route of zetec or if possible something more exotic if it can fit in.. I know someone on here somewhere was playing with a pug engine (tiger supplier on the south coast?)
Needs a mot next month so might be a good time to get it in the garage especially with summer coming up.

b4 i would invest money in that car ( as you said you dont have any skills to do the conversion yourselves) i would rather sell it and buy another seven with a zetec fitted already.easier and cheaper!!!
i would estimate 2-3k for a proper conversion done by a skilled and expirienced garage, incl.parts.
your tiger, if in good nick, should bring around 3500, depending the condition.
and 5500 should definately buy a good zetec-ed seven from one of the well known brands.

Hi, its Brill to see some very good advice on here, Three very good engines, one is the Ford cossy V6 next the R1 and if you are really up for it a hayabusa and we fit a turbo too , i suspect you have a type 9 gearbox which is no good if you go down the cossy route the input shaft is too short and the box is not up to the job too, we have Hybrid boxes in stock, all three engines have been fitted by us and with very good results,our choice go with the bike engines much more fun LOL

Don't forget the Pinto has the exhaust and inlet on the opposite sides to the Zetec (and many other engines), which means factoring in any bodywork modifications/repairs that would be required. The Duratec is the same as the Pinto however.
Engine swaps are never as cheap as you would think they should be, especially if you are swapping from an old carbed engine with clockwork ignition to something that's going to run a full engine management system.

I'm selling a 1.8 silvertop zetec setup that i was going to use in my striker but have changed plans.#
The engine was from another forum user but has only been trial fitted in my car.
Before this was rolling roaded at 150hp, but have no printouts to prove.
Includes all of the below:
1.8 Silvertop Zetec approx 70k miles
2.0 cams
shorter escort sump
lightened flywheel
twin 40 dellorto carbs jetted for the zetec
dunnel inlet manifold
dunnel ignition only ecu and wiring
coilpack and ht leads
starter motor
Engine is in Horsham, w.sussex.
Looking for £450 for the lot.
