Mk1 tina at the pod
Discussion
hi guys, took the tina up the pod 2day, traction was terrible, 1st run: started off the line in 2nd gear,to much welly and was still in 2nd 1/2 way down the strip spinning wheels at 7000 rpm, changed to 3rd and finally got some traction at 70mph. Ended up 18.2 @94mph, even worse, i was beaten by a peugoet 205!
Second go down, i started again in 2nd gear but gave it much less welly till i got some speed up and then nailed it, ran a 13.4 @108mph. Much better. just need an lsd and wider wheels as ive only got 205's on the back, reckon i can break 12's then.

Sounds familiar - I run similar modded 5.0 TVR in a Ginetta for sprints & hills. We're probably similar weights. Massive low-down torque makes traction a challenge! My best times to 1st light at 64ft are from feeding clutch in at lowly 1700rpm (no kidding)then squeezing pedal to metal. I use cossie lsd & 245/45 Goodyear Eagle tyres on low-ish pressures. John Sleath, who usually campaigns a car in the Custom Car Street Eliminator series, started off racing with a Rover powered Alfa Romeo. He was running regular 11's and that was with just 195/60/15's

Bet this makes cornering in the wet interesting ?
