Unfortunately mine appears to given up the ghost; the garage rang me this morning to give me the bad news. A search of ebay only shows one on there, from a C4S. Mine however is the narrow body C4 so I was wondering if anyone knows if they are an interchangable item? Obviously little point in exploring this further if they don't.

Having had a look on Porschapart, they don't appear to list any of their stock. If they are not interchangable then this would limit my ability to negotiate.

Thanks in advance on this sad day

Assuming they're 100% sure it is the front diff, porschapart would be my first port of call-don't forget the 10% discount!

What were the symptoms by the way?

Hi,

Good advice, thanks.

Driving up the A3M, it felt what could only be described as feeling like a puncture but then there was a grinding sound and a smell of fluid. Initial thought was a driveshaft but that didn't fit with the fluid smell and subsequently, have found that all wheels have drive. Other suspect was a gearbox mount but they have found to be ok.

Will be ringing Porschapart in the morning and remembering the discount, thanks.

Thanks Mike, first bit of good news I have had since Thursday; that'll teach me not to bring my Christmas decorations down in time!

At least it's not labour intensive rich, I've seen front diffs on ebay for 450ish though that was for a 993, can't see there being that much difference though?

Spot on, 996 C4S front diff, £450 plus £50 shipping and now Mike has confirmed they are interchangable, I will go ahead and get it back on the road. Train's are no fun!

Thanks everyone.

Hi, might be worth changing the output flange seals and changing the oil too.
