Photo 'Sets' How Many Is Too Many?

I've just finished creating a set of b&w photos from New York, and have finished up with 44 from an original 2000 or so images.

But, is 44 still too many for a photo 'set'?

Why can you not have as many pictures as you like?

I don't see a problem with it.. it makes it easy for you to find your pictures, anyone who is looking for pictures will find them via search or looking at your stream. Assuming this is flickr you can arrange the sets into collections if you want to tidy up a bit ?

BTW post a link, off to NYC at the end of next week so any inspiration is good !

I've not uploaded them yet, I'll get on it though. I've just made it up to 45 too.

I'm in the process of booking another trip there for late in summer, amazing place - I love it.

IMHO keeping the number down is the way to go.....who wants to sift through 2000 images to see the best handful? 40 odd sounds like a good number, it's enough to see a good range without weighing down the audience too much - i.e. if I see an interesting set that size on flickr, I'd happily look at them all, whereas 70-80 is pushing it!

Whenever I edit down a set I try to get down to the minimum that 'tell the story', which is easier said than done!

If you're intending to show them off to someone else then you need to pick the right number of photos that tell the story. If they are compelling enough and 'flow' well from start to finish then 45 isn't too many but they should have a unique aspect about them

They do flow at the moment, which is what I'm after, I can probably lose 1 or 2 more.

Finally decided to just upload the full 45 to Flickr. I'll have a look at thinning them down for if I make up a photo book or something possibly, but I'm pretty happy with 45.
