Fuel cap replacement (996)

Apologies in advance for asking a dosey question...

I have finally got around to buying a replacement fuel cap for my 996TT after the eyelet at the end of the plastic chord broke ages ago but I cant for the life of me work out what the eyelet attaches to ?

The cap also came with a small plastic 'pin' but it still doesn't seem obvious. Has anyone done this or can someone take a look and explain it to me as if I am five years old ? (I think its the same part and fitment for several models)

You have to replace the whole thing including pin, so remove the pin that is still insitu. Should be obvious then.
