Camshaft check

Is it possible to inspect the camshaft for wear by looking up into the engine from underneath (sump removed of course!) or does the crankshaft get in the way?

You only get a visual, which can be misleading (looks don't matter its the lift that counts)...

Easier to just measure the lift at each rocker arm, don't worry about the actual figures as long as all the inlets & all the exhausts are within @5%, if outside that best to strip rocker shafts and pushrods to measure against body of follower IMHO as a check (against rumpy pumpy fluffy hydraulic follower action and your own measurement precision).
