Hi all, dealing with the unknown at present, looking at selling the Audi through ph and ive had some interest from someone in sweden. He appears genuine but again im playing it with caution. I have a skype address for him which im yet to use to contact him on a mobile number and e-mail (he texted me first but now has gone to email as its free for both of us) What questions would be going through everyone else's head?

Also how would you want payment if they arn't prepared to do cash? Whats the most secure way without giving a randomer the key to your savings? Sorry for the stupid question but never delt with overseas sales before privately only on a b2b basis.

thanks in advance!

When I flogged the Grale I had interest from virtually every country in Europe. In the end a cpl of chaps running a business over there came over and paid cash. Interesting experience.

Might be worth asking in the Lotus forum, a lot of them go to the continent and when I was selling my Exige I had interest from Belgium.

Thanks guys will continue reading around, just trying to establish how the whole new owner registration process would work.... would the car remain my responsibility after they have taken collection got the receipt and their part of the V5? what would the process be? Thanks...

There are a number of issues, most easily overcome.

First of ll, payment. Your terms must be that payment is cleared before you release the car. You have to decide what currency you want. It may work in our favour to use a currency exchange specialist as they will give a much better rate than your bank.

As far as registration is concerned, it's your problem to advise the DVLA, easy to do just by either Jin the V5 or just writing to them. Get the new owner to sign a declaration they are exporting it.

The only other thing is beware large cash transactions as you may get accused of money laundering. I think the limit is €15k.

Sold a few with no issues.

I take cash or a cleared bank transfer - if its from somewhere dodgy then I ask for 5 working days to ensure it has actually cleared.

They need the WHOLE V5 so I just fill in and send off the yellow trade part.

Any mention of Western Union / Paypal / Overpaying by cheque = con.

Finally I scan their passport when they collect the car.

Some great tips so far so many thanks already! Would it be the buyers responsibility to ensure it passes their initial inspection in their home country as i have no clue about foreign requirements....

As always once it's sold it's theirs and their problem
