997.2 Prices - On the rise they say!!
Discussion
Okay okay, not another depreciation/future value/bid them in the b*llocks type thread....
BUT....
Received an interesting email today from an OPC salesman, part of an ongoing dialogue....
It will be interesting to see what happens to 911 values as the year gets going, there was an online auction for Porsche centres this morning and late 911s were selling very strongly and above guide values. I think the fact that the new model 911 S to a good specification is £90k plus has made late used 997 look good value, coupled with the fact that fewer cars have been sold in the last 2-3 years we could see prices firming (can't guarantee though I'm afraid)
There you go, a positive valuation direction!

Of course, a given indeed....
We'd already established my non-interest though in their car.....this nugget of info wasn't really part of his sales strategy...to me anyways.
Desperate last effort to get you interested. We'd already established my non-interest though in their car.....this nugget of info wasn't really part of his sales strategy...to me anyways.
Let us all know which OPC is willing to pay over the odds for a 997 as I'm sure there will be someone on here who would like to sell and get some extra folding in their pocket

So basically dealers can't get enough people to order a new 991 because it's priced too high and they're running low on stock.
Porsche need to be brave and put a much better GFV on the table!
Or maybe they'll sell less 991's than they did 996's and 997's in the UK?Porsche need to be brave and put a much better GFV on the table!
Porsche aren't looking for the same volume from the 991 imho. They've got great volume from the Cayenne and they're launching a sub-Cayenne and a sub-Boxster.
The 991 needs some rarity to retain the brand appeal.
Imo....the 911 shouldn't be an obviously achieveable car. It should be a mini-supercar that you can use everyday. That's what they were from 1970-2000ish....
I hope they don't go the Merc / BMW way anyway. Both those brands can't sell their high end models now because every other person has a C-Class. It harms the brand.

Believe me, in the context of the conversation prior he (we) knew full well that there was no deal to be done - a galaxy apart! Let us all know which OPC is willing to pay over the odds for a 997 as I'm sure there will be someone on here who would like to sell and get some extra folding in their pocket

Or the 997.2 will be a 993 to the 991's 996....
I've found myself thinking about this while reading the 991 reviews. He may have a point. As the 911 goes a generation softer with an after-thought of a manual 'box and dumbed down steering, the Gen2 997s, finally without the structural engine problems of earlier cars, might just be a good place for your money.

997.2 GT3 & RS will probably keep sensible residuals, last Mezger, manual and probably a lot "cheaper" (than the 991 GT3 in 2013) and therefore more attractive to most enthusiasts.Edited by Mermaid on Tuesday 10th January 21:33

Purely strategic on his part. You didnt by chance mention the fact that you are concerned about future values? We'd already established my non-interest though in their car.....this nugget of info wasn't really part of his sales strategy...to me anyways.
Its a salesmans job to remove your barriers.
