There are two major problems with your approach.The first is that almost all major scientific advances were considered lunacy at first. The only method that we could use to differentiate between real and pseudo science, is to compare each post against the current scientific consensus. If another Galileo or Einstein were to come along, then your approach would prevent them from posting in the Science! forum.
The second problem is that we don't want people being scared to post in case they offend the "Internet Police". That might just lead to an unused forum.
I'm chuffed that we have a Science forum. Why don't we give it time to settle before we start arguing about what may, or may not be posted there?

I don't think that the Science! forum will in the long term remain just the science forum.
It will hopefully encompass other topics of a similar ilk that don't really have a home anywhere else.
So don't get too anal about what's being posted in the Science! forum at the moment it's still in it's infancy.

Perhaps we should have a sticky with a few simple rules about the way the forum works then.
I'm thinking along the lines of setting the tone, rather than deciding what can or can't be discussed. I'd rather it didn't become a copy of 'The Lounge' but for anything with a remotely science based connection.

What is the point of having a "serious" forum then? The Planes Boats and Trains forum on the whole has maintained its "serious" aspect. It's obvious that the "Science" forum attracts a slightly different type. We even had one individual register with PJ solely to post some silly stuff on UFOs. If you don't like a topic then i would suggest you don't read it.
It certainly isn't panning out the way I thought it would.
The whole point of the establishment of multiple forums a few years ago was to try and confine the "junk and nonsense" to The Lounge. At least, that is how it was explained to me as I wasn't that enamoured with the multi-forum approach when it was first introduced.
I have got used to it now - but it would be nice if the way the forums were administered reflected the original objective.
Eric as I've said, the forum is in it's it's infancy let it settle down and we'll see what transpires.

It seems that a year or so ago that you only wanted one forum in P&P, and were appalled by the way it was restructured.
The forums on PH are structured to try to appeal to all members not just specific members.
