Hi

Does anyone from the south coast have a Focus RS MK1 they would be willing to show me around? I'm thinking of buying one and before I start travelling it would be good to have a look at one. There are none for sale locally so it would be a massive help.

Cheers

I'm not on the south coast but happy to advise from afar if its any help at all.

They are old enough now that some consistent problems (& solutions!) have begun to rear their heads and also there is now a huge variation in conditions and asking prices.

Do a search on here as the "what to look for" question has been asked and answered before, likewise the RSOC site has a Mk1 FRS section that will be useful.

Look at a few, even if it means a long trip (we did Doncaster, Derby and Ipswich in one day from Edinburgh and saw two good ones and a bucket of nails, went back a fortnight later for the Derby one!)

Thanks for the replies and link.

I've been on the RS owners site the last few days and have been doing all the reading up. I'm at a point now where I actually need to have a look at a car.

I'm in no hurry at all to buy, indeed I may not end up with an RS. I'm considering other things as well such as a Racing Puma should a good one of those appear. Unless something really tasty comes up straight away I'll get the worst of the winter out of the way and then buy when we're a bit closer to spring.

Just had a lurk at your past garage, imagine a car the size of your 306 with the handling and gearbox character of the 172, but built slightly better & with abs. You've pretty much got the Mk1 RS smile

Seriously mate I own a mk1 RS and its the mutts nuts. Ok I've had a few minor issues with it but obv with any car gettin on 9 years old there will be the odd for problems. then again there's guys on the rsownersclub forums with cars they've had for over 4 years that have had no problems whatsoever smile I'd go for one with less than 50k but what did it for me was takin it for a test drive smile Have you made your presence known on the rsownersclub? they'll help with finding you a nice well looked after members car smile also there great to mod tongue out

Thanks for the replies chaps, slight change of plan here. Going to delay getting one for a little while due to other priorities. There are normally one or two that come along to our summer south coast pub club meets so I'll have a look then. Possibly start looking to buy again late this year.
