But don't know where to start. Can u get an of the American ones with rhd? And not dodgy conversions?

There was an old mustang near me a while ago that sounded amazing, not sure what type tho.

Not getting a Monaro, just could sit there looking at a vauxhall badge!

Tvrs are cool but the reliability just is not doing it for me.

Big german barges too tame.

LHD doesn't make overtaking any harder in my experience, and if you base your car choices on whether you can get into or out of a car park slightly quicker, maybe a muscle car isn't the best choice anyway hehe

That's part of the problem solved.

The wheel on the wrong side isn't so much of an issue for overtaking. Having a car twice the width of the average B-Road, a bit more of an issue. smile

I've been obsessing about American muscle cars, specifically mopar for about a week now. Didn't event know what mopar was before that. Been looking at dodge darts, dodge coronet, Plymouth roadrunner etc. I want one !!!! Not got any room for more cars though frown

You won't touch a Monaro because of the Vauxhall badge? Yeah because it lacks the prestige of Ford... I'd take the VX8R over 99% of American metal.

There's shed loads of 2004 onwards Mustangs converted to RHD and they look pretty decent. The conversions themselves look pretty high quality from what I saw but admittedly never seen one in the flesh.

Having the wheel on the wrong side is ste for overtaking, but these are wide, heavy heavy cars often with live rear axles and pish suspension set ups. So you won't be doing much of that anyway.

That said I still despise joining motoways sitting on the wrong side... Particular in the old mans mustang where visibility is pretty awful. It's also a nightmare trying to move out to see if the road is clear for an overtake, as without a passenger you have to move out half a lane before you know for certain.

Fine for posing though if that's your thing.

The Monaros / VXR8s are really Holden / HSVs.

To the extent that some models you can remove the front Vauxhall badge to find the outline of a Holden badge underneath. The Monaro VXRs have an HSV chassis plate as another example.

Get one that's been badged correctly, a lot of them have...

I always obsess about muscle cars, mainly Mustangs but the Camaro really does something for me too.

What an absolutely ludicrous statement.

You do realise that, other than importing them from Australia, Vauxhall have fk all to do with them, don't you?

You can't even get Vauxhall to maintain them properly biggrin

Had two TVRs that never missed a beat. Absolutely stupendous things that made me grin uncontrollably on every outing. You may get the odd issue, ( in my experience it was things like dicky glove box latch, etc.), that can be fixed at home for not a lot. As for Monaros - A different proposition but I can only imagine they are similarly fabulous. Ref Yank muscle - The old stuffs cool..and new new GT500s etc probably great but can't imagine lower spec motors offering the same hooning satisfaction as Tiv/Holden

A lot of modern stuff, for example the 3rd gen Audi A8 is bigger than a 2005 Mustang so the same issue would apply!

I wouldn't touch a RHD conversion with a 10m cattle prod. The conversion would have to have been done prior to the SVA test (they never are - because most would not pass one) for me even to consider it, not that I would because to me a RHD converted Yank car is just wrong imho and it totally ruins the character and the whole point of it. I have covered around 27000 - 28000 miles in my Mustang over the last two and a half years and I have never had a problem with LHD at all, it really makes no difference at all.

Best place to start is what budget do you have?

I wouldn't discount the Monaro because of the badge though (who really gives a damn what the badge is, a good car is a good car end of), from what I have heard about them they are great cars (essentially a Pontiac GTO I think). If you really can't stomach LHD it has to be a serious consideration.

Can't comment on TVRs as I have never owned one.

And German cars don't do it for me so I have never looked at or owned one so can't comment on those either smile

Fair point - I always forget how stupidly massive modern cars are!

Hey with all that American metal cluttering up your garage you should know it's true more than anybody.

Oh and it's a Scottish phrase.
